Privacy Policy

ReSpeak Therapy ("we", "us", "our") operates the ReSpeak mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Information we collect
When you use ReSpeak, we collect the following:
- Account information — your email address and password, used for authentication.
- Audio recordings — voice recordings captured during speech therapy exercises within the app.
- Exercise and session data — your responses, self-ratings, session timestamps, and progress history.
- Profile information — optional details you provide such as your name, therapy goals, and preferences.
- Device and usage data — basic analytics such as app version, device type, and crash reports to help us fix bugs.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Service, including generating your exercise queue and tracking your progress.
- To allow your therapist or clinic to view your progress, if you have chosen to connect with them.
- To improve the app based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.
- To send you notifications or reminders you have opted into.
3. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on Supabase, a third-party cloud infrastructure provider. Supabase stores data in secure, SOC 2 Type II compliant data centers. All data is transmitted over HTTPS and encrypted at rest.
Audio recordings are stored in Supabase Storage and are only accessible to you and, if you have opted in, your connected therapist or clinic.
4. Sharing your data
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Period.
We may share your data only in these situations:
- With your therapist or clinic — only if you have connected your account to them, and only the data visible on the therapist dashboard.
- Service providers — Supabase (hosting and storage) and analytics tools that help us operate the app. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
- Legal requirements — if required by law, subpoena, or court order.
5. Health data and HIPAA
ReSpeak collects data related to speech therapy, which may be considered health information. While ReSpeak is not a covered entity under HIPAA, we treat all therapy-related data with the same level of care. If your therapist or clinic is a HIPAA-covered entity and requires a Business Associate Agreement (BAA), please contact us at privacy@respeaktherapy.com.
6. Your rights
You can do any of the following at any time:
- Delete your account — available in the app under Settings. This permanently removes your account, all recordings, session data, and progress history.
- Disconnect from a clinic — revoke your therapist's access to your data at any time.
- Request your data — email us and we will provide a copy of all data we hold about you.
- Opt out of notifications — manage notification preferences in the app Settings.
7. Children's privacy
ReSpeak may be used by children under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or speech therapist. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without consent, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of ReSpeak after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
